What products does Datto provide and how do I know which one is right for my business needs?

Datto has a wide product range designed to fit the needs of small office operations all the way up to Enterprise-class operations. There are no “cookie-cutter” answers as each client’s needs vary. We can work with you to find the exact solution tailored to your specific operation. Please take a moment to fill out the contact sheet as that initial information will help us to quickly zero in on your required solution.

Datto offers backup devices with a wide range of capacity. How do I size a Datto to fit my business backup requirement?

In general, plan for two and a half times the amount of data to be protected. Some data types will compress more than others (i,e,. Word documents and text files will compress more than pictures) so sizing is determined by the type of data you have and the overall total of all your backup data.

What if I outgrow my Datto?

Each Datto device comes with an original three-year warranty. If the device is inside that three-year timeframe, you can trade the device in for the next level of Datto and receive a generous credit toward the purchase of the new device.

If I upgrade a Datto, what happens to my current data?

It can be transferred to the new device and you do not lose any current backups.

I see a “Round Trip” drive at the site. What is that?

A Round Trip drive is Datto’s way of getting a large volume of data to their Cloud storage Servers. In many cases, that large volume is too big to synchronize across the web in a reasonable amount of time. For your initial backup, a Round Trip drive can be sent to you in order to sync the files between your Datto and the Cloud storage Servers. It can also be used as frequently as every quarter to sync the onsite backups with the Cloud stored copies of your data.

How do I know my backups are actually running properly?

Screenshot technology on the Datto device can be configured to spin up a Virtual copy of the device(s) you are backing up. It then takes a snapshot of the device login screen and sends it in an e-mail to the e-mail address or addresses you specify. This can be done as frequently as every backup or less if that works for you.

What kinds of Restore options are available with Datto?

Individual file restore can be done in a matter of minutes for lost, corrupted or overwritten files. A complete restore can be done to the same hardware or even dissimilar hardware. Restore operations can also be done from physical hardware to virtual machines or vice-versa, as in the event of a catastrophic loss or to migrate Server infrastructure.
